Why is Water-based Ink Environmentally Friendly
Composition of water-based ink
Water-based inks are composed of resins (water-soluble resins, colloidal dispersions, emulsion polymers), water, amines (mainly ammonia water), pigments (organic pigments, inorganic pigments) and additives. Resin, water and amines together form the backbone of the ink - the linking material.
Water-based ink is referred to as water-based ink for short. The main difference between water-based ink and oil-based ink is the difference in solvent. Water-based ink uses water (45%-50%) as a solvent, and the VOC content is extremely low, which has little environmental pollution: oil-based ink uses organic solvents (toluene, di toluene, denatured alcohol, etc.) as the solvent. In the flexible packaging industry, since solvent-based inks are mainly volatile and dry, the lower the boiling point of the solvent, the easier it is to volatilize and release bad gas to pollute the environment. After the printing is completed, there are also bad residues on the surface. Substances, while the solvents used in water-based inks are water and ethanol excluded from the voc list, which can excellently reduce voc emissions.
